Xiaomi will be accepting products which have reached the ‘end of life’ and are no longer operational. Xiaomi says that this program does not promise any kind of support for damaged or faulty products in terms of repair or exchange. Whoever wishes to enroll into this program needs to have a Mi Account. After logging into their Mi Account, one needs to fill out the e-waste recycling form. Xiaomi will send an authorized e-waste recycler to pick up the e-waste which will take place within 15 days since the time of request. Xiaomi’s e-waste management solutions are currently being offered by TES-AMM for this program.
One can drop the e-waste on their own too at any Xiaomi servicing centre. Xiaomi will accept any of the electronic products sold in India and of any brand or company. Xiaomi advises that all personal data be erased from the devices before depositing them.
Coming to the discounts, Xiaomi will give a discount coupon worth Rs 100 for every pickup request. This offer is however only for phones deposited and no other electronic product. Also, the phone should be intact with all its parts and Xiaomi will not accept spare parts of the device. The discount coupon will be added to one’s registered Mi Account after the pickup is successful, but after 14 days of the pickup date. These coupons can be used on a purchase made for Rs 1,000 and above and on accessories only.
Although users won’t be able to use the coupons on smartphones, a range of products under its accessories are available. These include the Mi Headphones Comfort, Mi VR Play, 20,000mAh Mi Power Bank, Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro and more.
Xiaomi is also planning to unveil it’s first-ever Mi Home Store in India. The store will be set up at Bengaluru and will showcase Xiaomi’s smartphones, accessories and ecosystem products. Although one will be able to get a hands-on experience of the products, the possibility of purchasing one is unlikely.
