Google has silently launched an app called the Areo app on its PlayStore in India. The app is presently available only in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Areo is a local service app that aims to act as an interface between a buyer and seller.
Areo aggregates food delivery and home services start-ups in India and enables one to pay bills, order food online, call a beautician, etc. Google has collaborated with brands like UrbanClap for home services of plumbers, carpenters, beauticians, and with Box8, Faasos, Holachef, Zimmber, and Freshmenu for food delivery.
The app acts this way- after clicking on it, it picks up the location of the user and then notify him about the services available near his location. If a person has to order food online, he can click on Areo, choose the items from the menu that are available in his/her location. The person can then place the order online and go ahead with the payment. Once the order is placed, it will notify users on the same. Payemnt through Areo can be done via debit card, credit card or net banking. Cash on Delivery service is also available. Areo9 has bundled together different services for the convenience of users.
Google will not be responsible for deploying deliver man or home service experts at the customer’s house. It will only act as a mediator between the buyer and the seller and the later will be responsible for fulfilling the services. Google will charge them a commission for the service provided.
